The Goods & Services Tax (GST) was ushered in the nation on July 1, 2017 amidst much anticipation and speculation. GST has been called one of the most radical tax reforms in independent India. The man spearheading the GST team, Revenue Secretary, Mr Hasmukh Adhia took to Twitter to clarify seven common misconceptions pertaining to GST.
The misconceptions around GST include concerns that three separate returns need to be filed every month and that the new GST rate is higher than the earlier VAT.
