Every NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) that intends to undertake CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities needs to register itself with the government. CSR activities are typically funded by corporates or companies to play a positive role in the community or to address environmental concerns. Let's examine what are the documents required for registration of entities for undertakiing CSR activities.

(Pursuant to section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013 and Rule 4(1) and (2) of Companies (CSR Policy) Rules, 2014)

Check list for registration of a NGO for undertaking CSR Activities

As per Rule 4(1) and (2) of Companies (CSR Policy) Rules, 2014), the Central Government made it mandatory for NGOs (Societies, Trusts or Non-Profit Organisation) to register with ROC, MCA (Registrar of Companies, Ministry of Corporate Affairs) for sourcing CSR funds from the corporate companies in India.

Therefore, the NGOs shall file for CSR-1 with ROC with Digital Signature (DSC) along with certification from practicing CS/CA/CMA.

 

List of Documents Required

  1. Registration Certificate of the NGO
  2. 12A registration Certificate under the Income Tax Act, 1961
  3. Section 80G registration Certificate under the Income Tax Act, 1961
  4. PAN of the NGO
  5. Email and phone number of the NGO
  6. Name, Designation, PAN and email of all the management committee / Trustees
  7. Email, phone number of Chairman / Secretary / Managing Trustee
  8. Passport size photo of Chairman / Secretary / Managing Trustee
  9. PAN and Aadhaar copy of Chairman / Secretary / Managing Trustee

Note:

  1. If DSC is available to Chairman / Secretary / Managing Trustee, then point numbers 7, 8 and 9 are not required.
  2. Video verification shall be done for DSC, if not available.

CSR certificate will be issued immediately, once the above are filed with ROC.
